Looks like a tourist nightmare. You can get good tortillas pretty much anywhere in SA. I think it's a law. Not sure how much longer you're in SA, Scott, but I've got several suggestions for you before you head up here to Austin (see you at the GMan). Check out:

Esquire Tavern (155 E Commerce) - Opened in 1933 and boasted the longest bar in Texas. It closed in 2006 to remodel. Not sure if it's back or if it will ever be the same. Used be an old school no b.s. bar where you could get cheap Lone Star.

Liberty Bar (328 E Josephine) - good food, cool old building that they're about to vacate, I think.

Taco Taco (145 E Hildebrand) - damn good breakfast tacos

Olmo's Bharmacy (on Hildebrand across McCullough from Taco Taco) - An old school pharmacy/soda bar that was closed down and turned into a bar.

Mad Hatter (320 Beauregard) - Good place for tea and weekend brunch in the King William district just south of downtown. Be sure to check out the cool old houses in the neighborhood.

La Tuna (100 Probandt) - A mile or so south of Mad Hatters. It looks like they've added a full restaurant in addition to the ice house that's been there. Great place to sit outside and have some beers. The lot is paved with bottle caps and there's some great old trees here to shade you from the sun.
