An Earnest Man Dances Gracefully With a 22 Ton John Deere Excavator That Moves With Him

In the short award-winning 2006 film “Modern Daydreams 1 – Deere John“, an earnest man dances longingly with a gigantic 22 ton John Deere excavator. The machine moves gracefully alongside the man, but the solemn sense of sorrow is overwhelming. The video was conceived and created by filmmaker Mitchell Rose, a former choreographer and performance artist whose “goal is to put a frame around the familiar, and then tilt it.”

In this episode a man and a 22 ton John Deere excavator dance a dance of discovery, fulfillment, and eventually, the loss that any diesel-based relationship must suffer

Rose also created “Modern Daydreams 4: Islands in the Sky“, a humorous video vignette in which people dance in coordinated moves while sitting up high in individual cherry pickers.

In this episode, four people weave fifty feet in the air atop four cherry-pickers, aloft and aloof in their ivory towers.
