Iceland-based photographer Iurie Belegurschi shot some remarkable aerial photos of the eruption at the Holuhraun lava field in Iceland on September 4th, 2014. According to Belegurschi, the eruption fissure was nearly two miles long with ejecta was being launched almost 500 feet in the air. The surface eruption began on August 28th when lava from the nearby Bardarbunga volcano broke through the surface at the Holuhraun lava field. As of Monday, September 8th, the eruption is still underway.
