A Scene From ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’ Fantastically Processed by Google’s Artificial Neural Network

Developer Roelof Pieters fantastically processed a short scene from the 1998 film adaptation of the Hunter S. Thompson novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas through Google’s artificial neural network. Pieters applied a similar process that Google recently used to create a gallery of “inceptionist” images by having the artificial brain process and try to interpret the scene.

The resulting video fits well with the LSD experience depicted in the scene and the larger themes of drug use in the film. Pieters shared the results and code needed to replicate the process in a post on GitHub.

For comparison, here is the original scene as it appeared in the film.
