A Herd of Elephants Gleefully Plow Through a Line of Yummy Pumpkins Grown Especially for Them

In the spirit of Halloween, a herd of elephants at the ZSL Whipsnade Zoo in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, UK were given a yummy seasonal treat of big round pumpkins that were grown especially for them. The giant pachyderms gleefully smashed the orange gourds with their enormous feet in order to get at the meaty insides, while a little calf tried to imitate her elders, but wound up instead chasing her treat as it rolled away.

The elephant herd at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo enjoyed a Halloween to remember as their zookeepers treated them to very their own pumpkin patch. Zookeepers at the UK’s biggest zoo prepped a mammoth plot of more than 30 pumpkins for the 11-strong Asian elephant herd – including four-month old Elizabeth – to get stuck in to, and the group ploughed through their Halloween surprise.
