A Frozen Tale, A 17th Century Fantasy Photo Series Shot in a Swedish Castle

In the photo series “A Frozen Tale” by Australian photographer Alexia Sinclair, seventeen-century characters inhabit a deserted Swedish castle. Sinclair was inspired to create the series after the Swedish government invited her to shoot at Skokloster Castle, an unusually well-preserved 17th-century Baroque castle near Stockholm. Shooting at the castle proved a challenge, as the unheated structure drops below freezing in the winter, and there is no electricity. Sinclair discusses the series in this Profoto Blog interview.
