A 340 ton boulder is currently on a painstaking 106 mile journey from a quarry in Riverside, California to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, where it will be installed in artist Michael Heizer’s monumental scale outdoor sculpture “Levitated Mass.” A special 294 foot long transporter with 176 wheels is moving the boulder along temporarily closed roads during brief nightly windows (photo gallery via Los Angeles Times). The journey began on February 28 (video) and will end very early on March 10.
