1934 Open-Top Boat Tram Joins San Francisco’s Heritage Streetcar Fleet

New Boat Tram for San Francisco

San Francisco historic preservation organization Market Street Railway recently announced the addition of a 1934 Blackpool boat tram, a British streetcar with unusual open-air seating, to the heritage streetcar fleet operated by the San Francisco Municipal Railway (MUNI). It is the second boat tram to join MUNI—the first tram was acquired in 1984. The newly acquired tram will enter service next summer.
