01SJ, a Global Festival of Art on the Edge in San Jose

by Scott Beale on June 3, 2008 · 4 comments

The 2nd Biennial 01SJ, a global festival of art on the edge, takes place in San Jose June 4th through 8th. Here’s a 01SJ promo video by Lucaso Media.

The 2nd Biennial 01SJ Global Festival of Art on the Edge is North America’s newest and largest festival of digital arts, and a great deal more. From a hip hop, multi-media meditation on Antarctica to robot art, from conversations with artificial intelligence to operatic performances of Google headlines about the environment, from avant-garde cinema to new musical forms – well over 100 artworks, performances, screenings, talks, and workshops will be featured at 01SJ. Festival organizers expect it to be a perspective-altering experience that entertains, enlightens, educates and involves attendees in a new understanding of our changing world.

The Black Rock Arts Foundation is sponsoring a piece of art in conjunction with 01SJ, Homoruroboros. It is free, it is fun. Stop by and see it before June 15th on the lawn of the Children’s Discovery Museum in San Jose.

Your readers might enjoy the artwork of tech artist Mark Dotzler. A slideshow of his technology-based minimal sculpture can be seen here (http://markdotzler.com). He also has some nice Google Homepage Themes at his site that are great for large displays. My favorite is “Fat Web Pipe”.
